Sometimes it’s useful to know who to contact about specific content in Library. To facilitate this, Library attempts to intelligently provide a byline for each page.
By the way, only the first byline gets used, and it must occur near the top of the document to count.
Rules to determine the byline displayed for a page
- If the document contains the phrase
By [some amount of text here]
on its own line, near the start of the document, that text is displayed as the byline of the page. - If the document does not contain any explicit byline information, the original document creator is displayed instead.
In addition to displaying bylines for articles, Library also displays the name of the last person to modify a page.
